We are seeking information on USS Mannert L. Abele and her crews.

Mark,
The following is info on my Uncle Jimmy:
James Knott
Home - Linden, NJ
Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class
Jimmy died in the sinking of the USS Mannert Abele. From what I gather he was in the engine room when
the ship was struck.
Thanks for the website Mark. Every few years I go looking for info on my Uncle Jimmy. Nice to see that
someone is keeping records.
If you have any recommendations on where I can find more information on what actually happened to the
Abele (first hand accounts, etc.) I would appreciate the info.
Thank you,
Kevin Greener
