Hi To all
This picture was taken in 1967 or 68 on the James E. Kyes DD787. I jokingly posed and stopped
but one of shipmates said to do it so I did. Nice looking back at the great physical condition
I was in. Of course time does change that. Ha ha. I have more pictures of me and two other fellows
free diving at Grande Island instead of boozing it up. I still keep in contact with one of them,
Lyle Freiberg in Wisconsin. From that experience I got heavy into scuba diving and free diving in
California and I still do it at the age of sixty one. We had a great adventure both on and off
the ship. If you want to see a couple Grande pictures just email me.
Thanks, Sam Macaluso

I sent these photo’s a while back. They were taken by my father P.R. (Bob)
English while aboard the Kyes in Korea in 1953. The ship was hit by North
Korean fire from shore. I have more pictures if you want them. My father is
still alive and I’ll ask him for more details.
