DD 536 (Fletcher class)
We are seeking information on the USS Owen and her crews. Files and photos may be E-mailed to us and we will incorporate them into these pages.
The E-Mail: 7/26/06: My Father and Uncle served at the same time on the Owen on its world cruise during the Korean conflict. My Father was a bit of a camera buff and took hundreds of photos during this time on ship. Including going thru the Panama Canal, Hawaii, Japan, Philippines, shelling Korea, & damage to the bow of the Owen caused by enemy fire. There are several other pictures of unknown crew members , on board / underway, with my Father and Uncle. My Dad and Uncle where identical twins - both are deceased.. Their names are Charles Chiarello & Nicholas Chiarello of 39 Bloomfield Ave Bloomfield NJ. IF ANY USS OWEN DD 536 CREW MEMBER WISHES COPIES OF THESE PHOTOS IT WOULD BE MY HONOR TO PROVIDE THEM A COPY FREE. THERE IS ALSO A BRIEF 16 MM film that he took of the Owen going thru the Canal and on land in Japan and in the Philippines. Very brief that I put on a VHS ... Mostly sight seeing stuff. ALL OF THESE PICTURES ARE FROM THE WORLD CRUISE DURING THE KOREAN WAR AND THE ACTION OFF KOREA - I BELIEVE 1951-1952. Please feel free to write: Sciaccadon1@aol.com Sincerely, Rick Chiarello -- Son of Charles
