I'm a plank owner on the USS TRUETT (FF1095) and have a couple of picture of the Truett I would like to send for publication. As soon as I get them scanned to the computer I will e-mail them to you.

Do you know of anyone on the Truett that would like to have ship's patches? If so let me know and I will try to order some. They are $5.00 each but have to be ordered in lots of 50. If anyone is interested let me know and I will try to get them. the only charge will be for the patch and actual postage.

I was surfing and found this site. I served onboard from 81-85. Looking for anyone from R-Div or Engineering who served with me. We were underway alot and did duty off Beruit in '82. Wondering if anyone remembers the good times and the hard work we performed.

The ol "Do It Truett" We sure did a lot of steaming while I was aboard (except for those long months while in the yards in Boston that is). Anyone out there remember "The Box"?

Hope the HMTS F461 Phutthayofta Chulalok is finding fair winds and following seas.

Looking to hear from shipmates, especially OPS Department.

I was onboard the Truett from 1974-78. I was part of the pre-commissioning crew, as well as a part of the commissioning crew, and am a plank owner. In fact, I videotaped the commissioning for the ship. I relocated the ships entertainment system from the forward crew lounge to the ET Shop so we could use it as a mini radio station so we could have "live" DJ's while out at sea.I also rebroadcast the movies that were shown on the mess desk one night, over the ships television system the next night. My wife was the first ship's ombudsman. I still am in contact with some of the crew members from the ship and I will pass this site along to them.

Just a note to say Hi to all the past shipmates of the Truett. I wasnt onboard long but remember ENS Jensen the 1st LT, BMC Landry (Shorty), hell I'm 6'5 and CDR Tom Lynch, the left guard on Roger Staubacks Navy Football Team who went on to be the superiendent of the Naval Academy in Annapolis.

I work for Naval Air Systems Command in Pax River MD as a Management Analyst and would like to hear from any and all shipmates. Does any one remember spending Christmas along side that tanker and outboard of another ship, having to walk like hell to get on land? My email is bennettb@navair.navy.mil or jbbennett@olg.com

I saw your website and just wanted to forward you this info.

My late uncle Robert Damon Jones served on the Truett. He was killed while on shore leave in a waterskiing accident. The reck room on the Truett was named after him. He was killed July 4, 1978 in Florida. Please include his info on your website.

Thanks

I was a plankowner on the Truett and really had some great times, it's hard to beleive that so much time has passed and I wonder what happened to the shipmates I hung out with [bird, web, steve, you guys out there somewhere?]. Anyway, I do have pictures that I'll send along at a later date. I stayed onboard until the Unitas cruise which took the ship around South America in 1975 if anyone wants to contact me feel free to do so!

I was on board for Truett's last deployment as a USN ship. We went to the Med/Red Sea for MIF operations. I was (un)lucky enough to have to stay with the ship during it's transfer to the reserve fleet and homeport change to Ingleside, Texas.

I have plenty of good memories from Truett and the officers and sailors I served with.

I was on board Truett for the last cruise prior to being turned to the navy now defunct naval reserve frigate program and later being turned over to the Thai navy. I also have a cruise book from that cruise I will try and E-mail you some of the pictures and peoples names that I can remember.

I have mixed emotions about the ship because I left a lot of stuff "possessions" down in the sonar spaces when I transferred. I wrote and called in an attempt to get them shipped and got no reply. I later found out my stuff was thrown out and or sold to a pawn shop. But that's in the past and it was a good command while I was there, courtesy of Captain D.E.Jarvis.

Sincerly,

GMM1 Kuhn

Here are a couple pictures of the USS Truett (FF-1095) from when I served aboard her, 1976 - 1980. I was the A&E Officer, 1st Lt, and Navigator during that period. One picture was taken before her first overhaul in 1978, the second was taken just after. Hope you can use the pictures to update your web site.

Thanks,

Nate Jensen
