This cruisebook is dedicated to Rick Connole and the memory of his father, David R. Connole. The officers and men who serve in this great warship are immensely proud of our namesake and the ultimate sacrifice he made for our freedom. Cited for "conspicuous combined gallantry" and for "superb skill...and...expert knowledge," he combined heroism with superior technical ability and clear thinking. These have become watch words for the modern navy. We who serve in CONNOLE today are inspired by his example and constantly strive to live up to the high standards he set.

None of us knew David, but in Rick we see the honor, integrity, dedication, and navy spirit engrained by his father. His long association with USS CONNOLE has always been marked by genuine interest in the accomplishments of the ship and the well being of its crew.
