I believe the picture of the USS Garcia and the USS Albany
will be of interest to the ships crew that were onboard
between 1968 and 1970. The USS Albany collided with us
while performing a simulated towing exercise. The USS
Garcia was Dead In the Water and the USS Albany was the
designated towing ship, but of course the exercise did not
go as planned as you can see in the photo. The
other picture is a photo of my last cruise onboard the
USS Garcia as we were pulling into Newport, RI from a
Spring Board Cruise in 1970 and I sailed my white hat
off the fantail for the last time.

Photo 003 5" Gunfire Photo 004 1973 Med Cruise - in port. Photo 005 Heavy Seas. (There are many copies of this photo. It was taken by a wise sailor on a ship [I believe it was either the Mt. Baker or the Mt. Whitney but who can remember] as we approached for unrep. He was a buddy of a Garcia shipmate who sold many copies of it for $1.00 each to the rest of us. It's a great photo and worth the buck. If you look the seas are calm and we are breaking over their wake on approach. Contributed by: John Fugit (PC2 1982-1986)
