USS Douglas H. Fox (DD-779) Association History

Our Association was founded in October of 1992 during the first formal reunion of shipmates which was held in Charleston, South Carolina. Since then we have held reunions every two years, and to date meetings have taken place in Alabama, California, Florida, Louisiana, South Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Our next reunion will be at the Doubletree Guest Suites Seattle Airport/Southcenter, in Seattle Washington from September 30 to October 3, 2010..

Our mission is to honor and preserve the memory and service of The USS Douglas H. Fox DD 779 and the men who served aboard in service to our country during the years 1944 through 1973. We also seek to restore shipboard friendships and promote camaraderie and life-long relationships among fellow shipmates, their families, and friends.

Membership is open to all men who served aboard the USS Douglas H. Fox DD 779, and to those who served aboard the USS Barton DD 599, which was commanded by LCDR Douglas H Fox. Family members and friends of those that served aboard both ships are also welcome to join us.

Annual dues are modest, and Association members receive our quarterly newsletter "FOX ON THE LOOSE." We also provide information for fellow shipmates and Association members so you can keep in touch and share memories and current events. Several DD 779 clothing items and memorabilia are also available to members from our ships' store.

If you would like to join us or attend our next reunion, please contact us. Also please pass the word to all shipmates that you are in contact with and invite them to come along too.
