Hi Mark,

this is in reference to the USS Twining, DD-540.

It 1970 it was sold to the Italian navy, which spent a year re-outfitting it and training their sailors to run it, in San Francisco. I know because of two things... one is thatmy husband had been aboard the Twining when we were married and until he was discharged and secondly, I met a few of the itlian sailors and spent mst of the year teaching them English, playing cupid and givin them a home away from home. And, to top it off, the captian invited me and my children to go to Italy with the ship. I sometimes wish I had chosen to accept that adventure.

At any rate, the information you have listed is incorrect. I thought you might want to do some research and find out what actually happened to the Twining. Oh, and they also bought one of the Twinings sister ships that had been used as a training vessel in San Francisco. I don't recall the name of the ship.
