Laid Down:  	June 3, 1941
Launched:       October 29, 1942
Commissioned:  	March 2, 1944
Decommissioned: December 6, 1945
Fate:           Heavily damaged by Kamikaze Aircraft 
                4/6/45 near Okinawa; sold 2/11/47 for 
                scrap.

Enjoyed your web site, Well done!

The daughter of our ship's doctor, while on Leutze he was LT J. Hugh Miller, MC, USNR while aboard (1944-45). Doc Miller just tuned 90 years old.

We, Shipmates, wives, widows an some children meet have been meeting yearly. This year (2004) we will meet in Clearwater Beach, FL in October.

Our Radar Officer, Walt Filmore (deceased) published a book titled "War History of USS Leutze (DD481). Its Library of Congress CCN: 98-066131.
