We are seeking information on the USS Jarvis and her crews. Files and photos may be E-mailed to us and we will incorporate them into these pages.

The E-mail:

My great uncle Lester "Carol" Hartley served aboard her in Pearl Harbor, TH when the Japanese Navy attacked the US, December 7, 1941. I am working on getting with my uncle to see if he has any pictures and any other war items he can share with me as I'm also currently working with a friend of mine to create a WWII living history and reenacting unit.

Please add Uncle Carol to your list of service men. He joined the Navy Sept 1940 in San Francisco, Ca. He is originally from IN, and is currently still residing here in Indiana.

Thank you,

June 15, 2005:

I would like to add my brothers name to the roster of subject ship. Edward Jackson Allen, seaman 2-class gunners mate KIA on August 09, 1942

Born Oct. 26, 1925, Los Angeles, California. Edward was sixteen years young when his life was taken. My mother lied about his age, because he wanted to defend his country and follow our older brothers example by going into the Navy. That lie haunted my mother until the day she died. Edward was my half brother we both had the same mother Gladys A. Gee. Our mother had nine children all who served in the Armed Forces. I'm number nine and I'm 65 years old.

If the above falls on deaf ears so be it. If not please advise how I can go about getting his name on the roster.

Thank You,

Roger Thornton.
